I liked the simplicity of this homemade bird feeder
on Duke Ellington Boulevard.

Katie an i recently went to an awesome Jazz show in first floor
of an old speakeasy in Harlem. There were about 15 total people there
and an outdoor patio, where we sat while enjoying the soothing music.
Let me know if you're interested in going and I'll send you the info.

When I was a little kid I was always mesmerized by the flying
advertisements we saw at the beach when visiting my grandparents.
Now I'm more prone to point out the irony of something called
"Landshark" being advertised in the air. Anyway, the water felt great
and I had a great time with Rozzie and everybody else on Saturday.

Testing out the new camera at dusk in Riverside Park

Coming back into NYC. The lights on the buildings couldn't compare
to the stars in the New Mexico sky. What a great trip with great food
and great friends. New Mexico, don't miss us too much, we'll definitely be back.

#460

This is the take out window at the Chow Cart in Taos.
I thought it was hilarious that it has an outdoor lock on it.
Nevertheless, the breakfast was awesome!

Pics from the first annual Wildlife Capture (and release) competition.
Entries were up to the individual's interpretation of wildlife.
We had a very diverse showing like the following pic:

which was more flora than fauna

This one was a spider chasing a beetle.
Although the competition was stiff, I was able to take home
the victory with my giant grasshopper.
I'm already looking forward to next year's competition :)

#458

Ain't nothing like a home cooked green chile blue cheese burger
with fresh avocado and a grilled veggie quinoa salad for dinner
with some great friends on a cool New Mexico night.
Much love to Yo, Brandon, Meghan, Katie, Rachel
and Greg and Yen for preparing the feast.

#457

So Katie and I just recently got a new digital SLR camera.
We also got a zoom lens that enables us to take super close up pics.
The trip to Taos and the moon gave us a great opportunity to test it out.

#456

One of the (endless) things I love about Taos, NM is how clear the
skies are and how the mountains don't obstruct your view of the sunset.
I also love how the setting sun illuminates storm clouds in the distance.
aaaaaahhhh New Mexico!

#455

We decided to go on a hike down into the Rio Grande Gorge
to go swimming in some natural hot springs.

They weren't hot at all and were incredibly refreshing.
And we ended up seeing only one completely naked man.

#454

EARTHSHIPS!!

We just got back from an amazing trip in northern New Mexico
with some friends. One of our stops was at the Earthship Headquarters
in Taos. If you don't what an Earthship is click here or here.

I swear this grasshopper was posing.
They are so intricate

Hanging out at a beautiful park in Esopus, NY
looking north up the Hudson River

Beautiful swimming hole in the Catskills.
Right when we showed up, the only other people there were leaving and
the next people showed up when we were getting ready to leave!
The water was cold and amazingly refreshing.
What a day.

#450

We found this bright orange lizard crawling across our fire pit up in the
Catskills in late July. I love its lil paws and the red spots on its back.

Not the cheapest bowling alley in the world,
but it definitely has its cast of characters.
Check it out one day when you get the chance.

#448

awesome

#447

I'm not quite sure what this has to do with the news

Giglio Festival Williamsburg, Brooklyn 2011
"Our Lady of Mt Carmel Feast"
In front of about 20,000 people (see below) a group of about 120 Italian
Men carry a 5 story statue equipped with a band, some MCs and a
camerman through the streets of Williamsburg. For more info about the
festival click here or here
as you can see the men in the blue shirts and white hats
are carrying the statue, et al.
The streets were completely filled, and we all had to get out
of the way when the Giglio made it's way down Havemeyer St.
Go check it out next year!

A commemoration for a young man who was killed after his HS
graduation. I felt weird taking a picture of this, but I am always
intrigued to see how people react to death, even under very
complicated/tragic circumstances.

#444

I am by no means endorsing Southern Hospitality Restaurant, but I
recently went there with some friends for a $35 BBQ feast along with
5 shots of bourbon per person. Considering that in NYC 5 shots of good
bourbon would cost more than $35 we had to give it a go. Let's just
say that the food was decent but the company and the bourbon were
really spot on. Next time, we'l just buy a bottle and hang out together

#443

This restaurant really kicks the shit out of all other Chinese restaurants

#442

Matisyahu at the Symphony Space on 6/15.
My buddy Adam played guitar with him that night and they
put on a really entertaining show. Matis is a great performer
and Adam really complimented him well. And there was a melodica to boot.
Thanks to Sara for bringing me along.

You can tell how adamant they are about not receiving mail by
their ferocious use of squiggly lines, arrows, stars and exclamation points.
I hope the mailperson puts an envelope titled "not mail" in the slot.

Hudson River Lighthouse Tour:
Hudson-Athens Lighthouse.
Another classic lighthouse on the beautiful Hudson River

This is the automobile equivalent to crappy eyeliner.
These people either take themselves way too seriously,
or really know how to laugh at their own expense

#438

We just went to Lawrence, KS to celebrate Elizabeth and Paul's wedding.
We had such a wonderful time, and Mary and Wint hosted a great party.
It looks like there might have been an uninvited guest too.
Congrats to Paul and Elizabeth and thanks again to Wint and Mary.

#437

This is how the Ding Dong Lounge celebrated the rapture.
Somehow we all survived

#436

BBQ or escort service?

#435

There's just so much to love about this sign,
especially the warning.
Keep Austin Weird

#434

Thanks to Pat and Kirsten's nuptuals, I finally made it to Austin, TX.
There are tons of really cool food trucks all over Austin that are cheap and delicious.
The "Ashtrayler" was my favorite non food related truck.
Even though I had a blast, I'm looking forward to visiting again.
Congrats to Pat and Kirsten on a beautiful, fun, hot wedding.

I was thoroughly impressed that this bubble was still inflated
on the street with nobody anyway near it.

#432

I got a kick out of the automatic hand dryer at the Basketball
Hall of Fame in Springfield Massachusetts
.

Katie and I recently shared The Mountain Madness Burger:
2 grilled cheese sandwiches, 2 hamburgers, lettuce, tomato, onions,
jalapenos, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and more.
It was gross. Way too much food.
They spent too much time on all the add-ons and forgot
to focus on the burger. They basically seared it to a char.
And both of our stomachs were hurting for days. :)
